Altar Servers
Altar Servers are Jesus’ ‘friends’, usually young people full of enthusiasm and willingness to take part in the liturgies of the Church by offering their contributions of love and devotion. Serving Mass is a wonderful way to be close to Jesus as He speaks to us in the Readings and comes to us in Holy Communion.
We mainly draw our altar servers from our three parish schools. Anyone – boy or girl – who has celebrated their First Holy Communion can become an altar server. We ask them to commit to a rota and they can serve until whatever age they wish, including into their teenage years.
Full training will be given and the parish is committed to safeguarding all of our children. You can read more about safeguarding in our parish here: https://www.dunleerparish.ie/our-parish/safeguarding/

Parents / guardians who want to explore their child becoming an altar server can contact the parish priest or the parish office – contact details are here: https://www.dunleerparish.ie/contacts
